Behind the Brand

A New Beginning

Coming from a family of shopkeepers, owning my own shop was the culmination of a long held dream. I wasn’t sure what sort of shop but when the chance presented itself to open a pet shop I jumped at it and so Flynnthedog was born. We ran the shop successfully for five years but wanted to change the focus of what we were doing so decided to close. A sad decision as we had made many friends, both human and animal, but the right one.

Our new focus would be to develop and produce a specific product and brand of our own rather than selling someone else’s. Above all we wanted a product that we believed in passionately. Something we would love to share with others and their dogs.

A Brand is Born

Because we are very particular about what goes into our own dog, we wanted to be as careful with what goes on him so we decided that Every Dog Deserves a Dog Hair Day.

We began researching for the brand in 2013 and the first prototypes were made and very well received. However, we felt that we hadn’t quite got there and went back to the drawing board.

It has taken time, lots of research, experimentation, retesting and refining. We now feel that we have a product range that expertly combines the best that nature and science can bring. A product that is made from 97% naturally derived high quality ingredients at a price that will suit all pockets.

Dog Hair Day Shampoo - the new brandAt Dog Hair Day we are confident that you and your best friend can now look forward to bath time.

Cruelty Free

Our shampoo is not tested on animals – apart from being tried on George himself. Of course, we could not make a shampoo that we wouldn’t be happy to use on our dog.

We are delighted to have been awarded the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny Certification. As part of this, we have made an on-going commitment that none of our products or raw materials ever have been or ever will be tested on animals. Please see our Values Statement for our policy in full.

Flynnthedog is a family business and we use local, ethically-aware companies for our website design and development, for our copywriting, marketing and photography. Our office is at Halton Mill on the banks of the River Lune near Lancaster. This is a low carbon workspace and managed as a non-profit co-operative.

Thank you for taking time to visit our website and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
